QARAQALPAQSHA

Le Karakalpakistan fait partie intégrante de l'Ouzbékistan. Située au nord-ouest du pays, cette république autonome de l'Asie centrale a fait du karakalpak sa langue officielle. Influencée par l'ouzbek mais proche du kazakh, cette langue appartient au groupe kipchak de la branche turque de la famille altaïque et possède deux groupes de dialectes répartis entre les zones du nord-est et du sud-ouest. Le karakalpak a remplacé depuis 1995 l'alphabet cyrillique par l'alphabet latin sous l'influence de l'ouzbek.
